Five Nourishing Chai-Flavored Drinks

Try one (or all) of these nutrient-rich chai-inspired recipes

Spiced chai is the most popular drink in India, and for good reason. It’s rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, while also giving you a boost of energy with a small amount of caffeine. While my Chai Latte Mix is caffeine-free, it can also be enjoyed with tea or coffee added to it. I came up with these five chai-flavored recipes that are unique and full of nutrients but still have the comforting feel of a cup of chai.

Chai Tea Lassi: Indian Style!

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 scoop of Dr. Amy Shah’s chai latte mix
  • 5 cups of plain kefir yogurt- drinkable version
  • ½ cup of frozen pineapple
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • Seeds of 1 cardamom pod
  • ½ cup of water to thin out

Combine all ingredients in high-speed blender and enjoy

  1. Brew your espresso and add it to a blender
  2. Warm-up your creamer, pour into the blender
  3. Add one tbsp of chai mix and blend until fully incorporated and frothy
  4. Pour into your glass

Turmeric Chai Latte Tea

  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 cup of warm oat milk
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger
  • Seeds out of 1 cardamom pod
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix

Step 1: Bring water, oat milk, turmeric powder, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon stick to a boil in cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.  Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 5 minutes.  Remove from heat and add 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix.  Let stand for 5 minutes and pour through a strainer to discard solids.

Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Lassi

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 cups plain unsweetened nonfat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoons agave syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix
  • 2-3 ice cubes

Combine all the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Taste for seasonings and adjust as necessary. If the drink is too thick, add a touch of ice-cold water to thin until you reach your desired consistency.

Blended Chai Tea and Coffee for a Caffeine Punch!

  • 1 cup of freshly brewed coffee
  • 1 cup of oat milk

Using a Vitamix or other high-power blender, mix all the ingredients together for a sweet and refreshing extra jolt of caffeine that you are craving in the morning to break your fast!

If fasting, do I still add oat milk? How many calories should there be for oat milk if 35 stre for your chai mix? Can I add anything else?
