Try one (or all) of these nutrient-rich chai-inspired recipes
Spiced chai is the most popular drink in India, and for good reason. It’s rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, while also giving you a boost of energy with a small amount of caffeine. While my Chai Latte Mix is caffeine-free, it can also be enjoyed with tea or coffee added to it. I came up with these five chai-flavored recipes that are unique and full of nutrients but still have the comforting feel of a cup of chai.
Chai Tea Lassi: Indian Style!
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 scoop of Dr. Amy Shah’s chai latte mix
- 5 cups of plain kefir yogurt- drinkable version
- ½ cup of frozen pineapple
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- Seeds of 1 cardamom pod
- ½ cup of water to thin out
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in high-speed blender and enjoy
Dirty Chai Recipe
This is a super easy double shot of caffeine to start your day!
Ingredients:
- 2oz light roast espresso
- ½ cup of oat milk creamer (see picture below)
- 1 scoop of Dr. Amy Shah’s Chai Latte mix
Directions:
- Brew your espresso and add it to a blender
- Warm-up your creamer, pour into the blender
- Add one tbsp of chai mix and blend until fully incorporated and frothy
- Pour into your glass
Turmeric Chai Latte Tea
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 cup of warm oat milk
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger
- Seeds out of 1 cardamom pod
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix
Directions:
Step 1: Bring water, oat milk, turmeric powder, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon stick to a boil in cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix. Let stand for 5 minutes and pour through a strainer to discard solids.
Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Lassi
- 1/4 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 cups plain unsweetened nonfat yogurt
- 1 tablespoons agave syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 scoop of Dr. Amy’s Chai Latte Powder Mix
- 2-3 ice cubes
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Taste for seasonings and adjust as necessary. If the drink is too thick, add a touch of ice-cold water to thin until you reach your desired consistency.
Blended Chai Tea and Coffee for a Caffeine Punch!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of freshly brewed coffee
- 1 cup of oat milk
- ½ cup of ice
- 1 scoop of Dr. Amy Shah’s Chai Latte Powder Mix
Directions:
Using a Vitamix or other high-power blender, mix all the ingredients together for a sweet and refreshing extra jolt of caffeine that you are craving in the morning to break your fast!
