Day 37 of the 60 Day Ultimate Optimization Challenge
Welcome to Day #37 of the 60-Day Ultimate Optimization Challenge!
Since we are learning about exercise, I wanted to make a point to address: How much exercise is too much and how much is enough? Did you know, when we talk about exercise, 10 minutes of exercise can be beneficial? Yes, it’s true! 10 minutes of exercise can actually give your body what it needs to get your heart rate up and continue to build muscle. Here’s what else you need to know about how much exercise is enough:
There is a difference between exercise and movement. Movement in a day is even more important in a day than exercise (called non-exercise activity thermogenesis). This is very important in calorie burn and weight loss. You want movement that isn’t non-traditional exercise.
Hours of exercise actually takes a toll on your body, because it’s hard to keep stress levels in check. This is why athletes have to keep stress levels down in order to keep performance and recovery in check.
If you aren’t an athlete, you are going to have to watch your recovery and sleep, but many people don’t do this. So first, get stress and sleep under control before doing a lot of exercise and remember, more isn’t better!
Your homework for today is to: Do a few days of low intensity workouts. Focus on sleep and nutrition and get your baseline stress (which is caused by tension—emotional, family or social) under control
