Day 16 of the 60 Day Ultimate Optimization Challenge

Welcome to Day #16 of the 60-Day Ultimate Optimization Challenge!

Today we’re going to talk about a topic that is so close to my heart. You see everyone in my immediate family has diabetes or at least altered insulin function. The availability of a continuous glucose monitor has been game changing. also a new research study shows that everyone responds to different foods differently. This is why I chose to spend today talking about that’s very important new tool.

If you are diabetic or know someone who is, you’ve probably heard or seen a CGM or continuous glucose monitor. Let’s learn what it does, when you need it, and how and where to buy one.

What is a CGM? Continuous glucose monitor is a very good test of blood sugar control personalized to you. It automatically tracks blood glucose levels throughout the day and night. When do you need it? If you have type 1 diabetes and are able to use the device, your doctor may recommend CGM to you.

How and where to buy one? As of today, you need a prescription for CGM but now there are tech platforms like Levels, which is a non-prescription program with the CGM included. A simple blood sugar monitor from the pharmacy works too but you need a finger-stick blood glucose test with it.

Your homework for today is: Buy a simple blood sugar monitor from a pharmacy or get a CGM and track for 2 weeks.
